Maybe - as long as we pay the managers, coaches, ground crews, concession workers, BoD members, equipment managers, etc. too.

How many MLB plays would be reversed of there was this type of reply? Lots. Just follow this and other forums for a ton of threads on blown MLB calls.

Well, I know when I blow a call, and it's not too often.

I guess, but the managers, coaches, ground crews, concession workers, BoD members, equip managers, etc. don't cause such issues when they do a sub-standard job.

We don't delay the games multiple times because the hot dog vendor failed to use proper technique.

Anyway, I love watching these games, but the officials are frustrating at times.

Peace.

When I was talking to our local district assignor, and he is trying to get more of us able to go to the LLWS, he told us that if we do get selected to go to Waco or to the WS, they will call and only ask 1 question....
"Do you get paid to umpire LL?"

What? That's it? No question about my credentials? Or even how long I have been umpiring?

at that point I realized that I think I will stick with District and state levels... Don't need to travel that far to have every call I make second guessed, and work with guys who could be better than me or pure rookies... got better things to do with my time. (like paying Varsity HS games back home here.)

And I think a lot of folks likely feel the same way, which is probably a big part of the problem
Quality guys, I mean guys that take umpiring very seriously, are likely to balk at the idea of calling with guys that might be sub-standard, to having every call challenged (legally), etc.

It's too bad too. These games would be much more enjoyable if this aspect of the games was rectified.

Your assognor is misinformed.

You need a recommendation to go to a regional.

Youi cannot do a WS until you have done a regional and the staffs at the regions then select who they send to the WS from those who apply.

Gotta give credit to the PU tonight for the Texas/California game.
He's doing a good job and just took a painful looking shot to his arm, shook it off and kept on truckin.

Bessecheck I think is his name.

California is a strong looking LL team.
