I will add, any 6 Flags Park, McDonalds I haven't seen all CDP umpires, but I've met a few and the few I've met I wouldn't want umpiring my games that I've traveled thousands of miles to play. I hope my few personal experiences are in the minority. |

I did quite a few games at CDP over the years...never would stay for all 13 weeks (yikes!) But Johnny is right there are some BRUTAL umpires that do these games at times. Some teams bring their young kid local umpire thaty has no clue what he is doing out there. Still others bring vets...that have no clue what they are doing out there.
One of my favorite stories was this one umpire who had a batter who was really delayed in getting to the plate for his at bat. The umpire called for him several times. As the batter was sprinting to the plate, the umpire commanded the pitcher to "pitch" and he made the batter wait outside the box....Here's the best part....he called the pitch a "ball" |
