Re: Lesson Learned....Or...PAY ATTENTION

Re: 1099 contractor or taxes paid employee

Re: Why don't they do this for Baseball?

Re: What should I know about NFHS

You might have some schools with later starts. Here lots of schools start at 4 or 4:30. Even if you can't work as much HS as you want there are many associations that assign umpires for summer...

Re: Ump-attire has a limited number of Douglas CPs

I don't see them on there. Must be gone already.

BUT--$125 for a WV Platinum. 8-O

Re: Little League Umpire Mechanics

Re: Wash v. Conn.

They have worn red undershirts under a black shirt at the LLWS before. If there's no red in the black or polo blue shirt, what would make LL think a red undershirt would look good?

Re: So much for Volunteer Umpires.

Oh there is an application for Regionals/World Series. It goes something like this:
Pick the level you want to apply for (LL, Jr League, Sr League, or Big League)

Have you been to a LL umpire...

Re: First time shopper

Order a half size up, or try your regular size in a wide width, if available.

Re: So much for Volunteer Umpires.

Then your DA and UICs do not allow gum or seeds. This is not a LL rule.

Re: Counts/Outs

Not a proper softball mechanic either.

I don't go anywhere near the mound on a pitching change. If my partner wants to coach F1 that's his business.

I have had partners do this to 17/18 year...

Re: Instant Replay in LLWS

Oh yes... so they all can say they worked the Series. On the small diamond I think four is too many. Three is just right.

Re: Doug Harvey in the HOF

My favorite part was his response to a minor league manager: "To think that somebody in this godforsaken league is studying the rules besides me. That pleases me so much." :D

Re: Yellow Line

No, it's either a home run or in play depending on where it goes AFTER it hits the top of the fence. Hitting the top of the fence does not make it a home run.

The yellow line shows you where the...

Re: Alternative Pants

Actually I'm not surprised at all by what your partners were wearing. I've worked with partners like that plenty of times.

Just do the best you can for now and save up for real umpire pants....

Re: Does anyone have a pregame list written down

That's not a good discussion. I am not going to go into collision rules, throwing the bat, etc. Lineups, properly equipped, ground rules, league rules, go.

Re: Canadian Ejection

(1) These are 15-year-olds and they have a trainer? Wow...

(2) Your rules let someone who has been ejected remain in the stands?

Re: View from "B" on pickoff at first

Well...I saw a AAA 1BU a week ago who didn't do the pivot at all. He just looked back, picked up the B/R, and was ready to take him to 2B. Worked just fine.
