Re: Inside Move (FED)

Bob,
In my case he stepped toward 2nd on the advance, so I had nothing. In the case I was trying to describe he kept pivoting towards first. It was something I was thinking of, ie if the runner R1...

Re: Inside Move (FED)

JaxRolo.
Thank you for the further illustration. Yes, that was the move, but what happens if he kept pivoting to fake the runner back to first. When he stepped towards first (he disengaged), but...

Re: Inside Move (FED)

Mike.
You had a much clearer answer to my disjointed questions and I appreciate your input.

Yes, if he attempts the steal or moving on the pitch, pitcher make that move ie to 2nd base and feigns...

Inside Move (FED)

Here is the situation:

We have a right handed pitcher, runner (R1) at first base. Pitcher makes an inside move with his non-pivot foot swings over the pitchers plate; with his pivot foot, pivots...

Re: enough is enough - inexperienced catcher?

I have only gotten hit by a fowl ball once. The pitcher was lousy, but the catcher kept saying everyone on the team was chicken to catch this erratic kid. I did then try an Ozzy, and asked the...

Re: Catcher Blocking Me Out From Viewing The Plate

Ha Ha Dash. I am with Ken on this one. I like the slot, if I get cut off, moving back and up does help, but you will lose the low pitch. If that continues to happen or I ball a couple, I will talk...

Re: Anyone having trouble with Official's Choice?

I have been much happier with other vendors, from Ump-Attire, Honigs and Gerry Davis. My partners and I picked up a couple of their off colored shirts (camo), but the sizes are quirky and they didnt...

Re: Portable Umpire Locker Room

It does work great, but I seldom use it as well and keep it in my trunk.

Re: Bruised inner thigh

I have gotten hit like that, one direct, 85 mph and one foul ball. Both left those type of bruises. I just ordered a football girdle, one by underarmour and the other by Nike.

Under Armour MPZ 5...

Ozzy.
Got it, I concur and did it, the survey is important and takes no more than five minutes.

Re: All Star Shin Guards at Ump-Attire

Mike.
They have this pad (actually two of them above the knee), that is very comfortable and similar to the shell, but lighter. I just ordered another pair.
Used a coupon code of "comp" and got...

Re: All Star Shin Guards at Ump-Attire

Mike.
Now dont laugh, I wear the Easton ones, the stealth catchers shin guards and I cut off the bottom flaps.

They are very light weight in FLA, great protection and much cheaper.

Re: More on Harry Wendelstedt

Thank you for the post, was a very nice tribute. Harry was always a classy man, and his son Hunter, carries on his tradition of class and humbleness.

Re: Obs or Int?

Johnny,
I think it also though shows that we can take a rather common play the take it to various depths. When doing all different types of ball, and playing under different rules throughout the...

Re: FED Rules on a check swing

Thank you Mturman.

There is no obligation in Fed for a plate umpire to go to his partner, on a check swing.

Also, once a balls is called a strike on a check swing it can not be appealed. I...

Re: Throat guards

I went from the 4 inch one to a 6 inch one, after the four inch one got stuck a couple of times pinned against my neck. Zip Ties are a great idea, but I like the snapped ties that come with the...

Re: FED Obstruction Rule

I am with Rich on this one Ken. A very close play at 2B, I am NOT giving him third, unless F3 tackles him or something funny.

The one that gives most heartache is the PO, say to first where R1...

Re: Catcher interference

Glad this was brought up. Had it two weeks ago, and batter almost took catcher's head off. F2 stepped in front of the plate, trying to throw out runner stealing 2nd. The catcher, had never caught...

Re: FED DH question

Ken, hit it as did Bob.

The only twist is the P/DH.... But again the DH/Player, has to be batting in the same spot and is locked in FED; but reentry is available.

Re: General Question about Fed Rules/Exams

TYP.
You answered your own question. To properly umpire either game, you should master both. In many situations with both FED and MLB, the answers are completely different so why not elevate your...

Re: General Question about Fed Rules/Exams

TYP.
For most of us, we consider umpiring a craft, the guys here are NOT here to step on you; but to help. So look at it like that.

If you make a cavalier comment, about knowing one set of...
