Isn't this the second blatant tag play he's missed?

I LOVED this call. I was watching it at the time, and I was making my little girl watch the replay. (She's so much better at humoring me in these situations than my wife.)

Isn't this the second blatant tag play he's missed? That was a rough safe. When I have one of those creative slides, I wait and call what is, and not what it appears to be. But that one appeared to be an out, because it was an out.

Re: Fonzie's call... Now, I grew up in NY and have been a Yankees fan since the mid-1970's, so I didn't love that call when I was watching the game and wearing my fan hat. But... putting on my umpire hat, I'm not totally sure it wasn't correct. I don't think I would have been bold enough to make a call like that when the throw beats the runner by so much, but looking at the replay over and over, I wouldn't bet the farm that Jeter truly touched Kinsler. What the Texas announcers (second part of the clip) state – that Jeter's tag made Kinsler's arm move – is clearly false; his arm moved because he was trying to avoid the tag, which it looks like he initially did with his left hand. Jeter might have just nicked Kinsler on the hand as Kinsler was moving it back, and it also looks like Jeter possibly got him on the jersey with the end of his swipe, but I wouldn't say it's 100 percent conclusive on either from the video angles.
So, I could be convinced either way on this play. I don't think he's clearly safe, but I don't think he's clearly out, either. I think he probably was out, but I don't see enough evidence to say it was a terrible call.

On the Marquez video, the replay at 0:58, it looks like there is space between Jeter's glove and Kinsler's jersey. I don't know if Marquez called him safe because he saw this and that is why he called him safe or not. But in this situation, just like the old saying, if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it's probably a duck.
As for Guccione's call, that was a spectacular call.

Hmmm, the I agree that the Marquez call is very rough and I would have a tough time agreeing... but I am a diehard Yankee fan... I will admit to being biased and step away...
Guccione's call at first I thought no way, but the second viewing when it was much closer and a similar angle the umpire was on, I could see the hand reach out... Good call.

I am a Ranger's fan and the Yankees got the dirty end of the stick on this one.
