That last pitch was not a strike.

That last pitch was not a strike.

I thought it was.

That last pitch was not a strike.

Possibly, but if so, it was one of the few he missed all night. I have been enjoying the "proper" zones today in all of the games.

I have yet to see one guy properly work the slot.

Where the hell did this guy get the idea that it's useful to "chainsaw" on swinging third strikes?

Yeah, OK ump, we can see he missed it - no need to rub the kid's face in it. Sheesh.

That's exactly what I was thinking. A few times I know I heard him with a loud "STTTTRIIIIIIIIIIKKKKKKEEEEE THREEEEEEEEEEE" call on the swinging third strike.

I am hoping that today's PU for the International Championship will pass all of your muster.

Today's PU is the Co-author of the Oregon Umpire Manual for the Two Umpire System.

He umpires high school and college baseball.

I told him: "don't suck!"

The LLWS website does not list any umpires from Oregon?

2010 Little League Baseball World Series Umpiring Crew (Aug. 20-29; S. Williamsport, Pa.)

Maybe the most pressing question at this point will be:

"Will the plate umpire's shirt match those of the rest of the crew?"

Inquiring minds want to know....

Ohio v New Jersey
PU Black
Rest of Crew - Powder Blue

I have been told, bu NCAA Umpire that PU does not have to match rest of crew.
All Umpires on the field must match.
Example: PU wears a Plate Coat, he doesn't match rest of crew.

Looked like they were all doing that yesterday - - PU in black, rest of crew in polo/black.

The plate coat comparison is understood - - not too many base umpires would be wanting to wear a plate coat on the bases. (And yes, before you remind us all of the American League burgundy blazers, I'm old enough to remember how stupid they looked, especially with those baby blue turtleneck sweaters).

The mis-match colors use to go on alot in the big leagues in the late 1990's. navy, red (AL)and lt blue (NL). I really dont see an issue. BTW, that little umpire brush holster that the asian ump wear is cute.....
