That's exactly what that looked like...funny.

As a side note, I still hate those smocks.

LOL so true. Evidently we have had a couple of first year guys breaking into the relief spots in the majors. There was evidently a first time guy on the dish at Dodger Stadium earlier this week.

Yes he balked, but maybe, with his crew chief there, he turned and said, "I got him unless you want him". Mr. Tiller is paid around $650 per game which is pro rated on a 162 game season without any vacation factored in. NCAA D1 are making over $300 per game, and some of these individuals have highly compensated day jobs.
However, on the amateur side of making money for officiating, basketball is where the money is, as the premier NCAA guys are paid up to 3k per game and a lot of guys at least 1k per game. Not bad for a 80-100 game schedule for the premier guys, the vast majority who are highly compensated in their day job.

The base guys wore them in the AAA game I went to Thursday. They looked like they were wearing T-shirts, for cryin' out loud.

That you was at a Portland Beavers game when you seen them. I do not like them that much either They wear something like that here in the Korean Baseball Orgaization and I was wondering what they were wearing at first a SMOCK

I hope they do not keep them and go back to the other.

I am from Portland and use to work as a vendor at the old ball park 1963-1967
Duke Sims, Sam Mcdowell, Luis Taint, Buddy Booker, and Ray Barker just to name a few.

I think the Northwest is trying to take over these message board. First is was Tim_C, then Widac showed up, now Seth and we find out HeyBlue was from there (among others)... oh heck, I might as well just move up there so I can fit in too.

Now that is funny, See as Rodney Dangerfield once said " I get no respect" Sure you can move and am sure that you will fit in very well.

That's great to hear. I think my dad saw Luis Tiant. When I was a kid the Beavers were the Twins' affiliate, and then we got a single A Rockies team for a few years. I have seen Garrett Atkins, Clint Barmes, Brad Hawpe, and Juan Pierre among others. With the current edition of the Beavers: Sean Burroughs, Khalil Greene, Jason Bay, Chase Headley, and Nick Hundley are some of the guys who made the Show.

And something cool for the Red Sox fans: The Pesky boys are from Portland. Vince, Johnny's brother, still comes to Beaver games--look for the guy in the Sox jacket and hat. He was a vice principal at my dad's high school, and Dad got Johnny's autograph when he was managing in the PCL.

I have to say too, PCL and other MiLB umpires are a lot of fun to watch for an amateur. ;-)

Dang hb26, and I thought I was older than dirt. You must have been a marine in WW1. Kidding aside, listen, my hats off to you. Thanks for your service to our country. We need to tell you that more often, just as we need to tell all our service men that more often. P.S. Come on, I know you got a Honus Wagoner autograph. Could you post it.
