You mean crayon, don't you? ;)

$45 mil for this guy, and his bat costs how much? Swing the bat, Johnny, swing the bat!

Hard to believe they draw lines in the majors. Then look just as shocked when they get dumped as a 12 year old....

The ump was calling strikes stripe-to-stripe all day - both teams. Not a good day at the plate.

Well, if he's calling it consistently all day for both teams, how is it not a good day? Just because the players are such slow learners they can't adapt? The pitchers sure did....

I saw that highlight on ESPN and thought, "He actually drew a line? WTH?"

He was run before he could even look back up.

Bada bing!

$45 mil - not a dime's worth of brains.

I love the part where you see Wally tell him "Don't do it."

The best part about that is now he is able to say in the report that he warned him.

I thought that they only drew lines in Pony baseball. But he was wrong for trying to show up the umpire. I watched it and as long as he was consistant in his calls for both sides then he had a good day at the plate but damon did not.

It doesn't get any more automatic than that, even if Damon had a point. Bye Johnny, Oakland doesn't miss you! :D

If the PU was calling THAT pitch a strike "consistently", he was calling a consistently crappy strike zone. That is actually bad umpiring - not "a good day".

Damon certainly deserved to be ejected. Heck, even the announcer knew that before Damon got tossed.

He obviously didn't get the memo throughout the game. As was posted here you can't please everybody, but you can eject anyone. There is a big push for more strikes to be called. So now that that is happening the coaches are whining, here's a small tip besides don't eat yellow snow, swing the damn bat. A hitable ball no doubt. Strikes and outs are our friends!!!!!

This reminds me of a statement a rules interpreter made at a meeting once with both coaches and umpires present. He said, "Gentlemen, the strike zone is 23 inches wide. 17" of white, 1/2" of black on each side, the ball is 2.5" in diameter and only part of it has to cross the black, add everything together it equals 23 inches."

If it was consistent, both ways, all night, then I don't see what Damon has to complain about. He should go back to Boston and re-grow his beard. It seems like he was a much better player when he had that going on.

He wasn't the only one complaining - he's the only one that drew the line though (accurately too).

The black isn't part of the plate, however the ball is 2.86" in diameter.

Consistency has it's limits. A pitch in the batter's box is a ball - consistency be damned.

I actually like the strike call by Bell. Sure it may have been a tad inside but in the shot from above homeplate, my mind, it catches the inside corner. I would call that pitch every day of the week and twice on sundays (especially when I have double headers).

I also agree with Wally (the poster, not the MLB umpire) that one of the best parts of the video is when you can see Wally Bell tell Damon "dont do it"

In the box? What video were you watching?
Oh - a Yankees fan. Nevermind. :D

Speaking on behalf of RSN: "No thanks." Judas* had his chance.
