Ok. Situation, needing a ruling.

Runner on 3rd, 2 outs in the Inning. 2-2 count and the pitcher throws one in the dirt and the batter swings. Dropped third strike and the batter takes off for first. The catcher retrieves the ball and fires it to first to retire the batter-runner. The runner from third decides to trot in on the play and touches home plate before the batter-runner reaches first.

Is this a timing situation in which the runner hits home plate before the out is retired and he scores? Or does the out supersede the runner coming home?

Thanks!

No run can score on a play where the batter/runner makes the 3rd out before he reaches first base. It's not a time play.

Just to add to what Dash said, no run can score when the third out is recorded because a runner is forced to vacate a base because the batter became a runner. Doesn't apply to this play but always important to keep in mind.
