Here's one for you guys. Had a game the other day with a play at the plate. Throw gets to the catcher in good time, he goes to one knee and is blocking the plate. The runner attempts to hurdle him. (I was amazed at how high the kid got.) The catcher tagged him as he went over his head. Is this hurdling legal, the catcher was not pronate on the ground. I believe you are allowed to hurdle a player laying on the ground but can't find info on a player kneeling. It says diving over a player is illegal. What do you think???

Hurdling a kneeling fielder is illegal, even if the runner is obstructed.

Since this is posted in the FED forum, I'm assuming a FED game, right?

FED RULES BOOK
8-4-2.b.2.
Jumping, hurdling, and leaping are all legal attempts to avoid a fielder lying on the ground. Diving over a fielder is illegal.

FED CASEBOOK
8.2.1.D
RULING: Hurdling the outstretched arms of a fielder is legal. Hurdling or jumping over a fielder who is not lying on the ground is illegal.

no jumping over or hurdling, unless a double summersault double axle is part of it, then look out for the Russian judge....

FED Case Book 8.4.2. Situation T

On a play at the playe, F2 is on his knees. R1 decides to hurdle F2 or jump over him feet first. RULING: The runner is out immediately, and unless he makes contact or alters the play of F2, the ball remains live.

Had this exact thing last week; called it immediately without so much as a peep from anyone.
