I was on the plate R1. no outs , smash back to the pitcher on one hop , he goes to 2nd to start the DP. F4 is covering second base takes the throw coming across the bag toward the infield, R1 slides straight into the BASE & GOES BEYOND second base (No where near the 2nd baseman.) The DC comes out asking for FPSR. He argued the act of going beyond the bag was FPSR , I said not necessarily that there had to Contact or in my judgment an alteration of the play , when the runner went beyond the base, He said I was wrong , I said no I am correct and turned around went back to the plate
Well I checked the rule book AGAIN and I believe that I am right any input from you guys would be appreciated:)
PS: also read my post about after I turned back to the plate

2-32-2c: A slide is illegal if the runner goes beyond the base AND THEN MAKES CONTACT WITH or alters the play of the fielder.

You only told half the story. What happend to the relay. Did F4 make the throw to 1B? Was it a good throw? Was the BR retired by the throw? I was wondering what happened on the play to cause the HC to try and pull this scam on you.

Hi Richard, The throw was a rushed one hopper to F3 , that handcuffed him and he dropped the ball.
BTW I meant I was Home Plate umpire or UIC , I was not actually standing on Home Plate
What followed next I posted under Situations
