just wondering if anyone has any opinions on cliff keen's mxs loose fit shirts, i am putting together my "needs" list and saw these at lesters and although i don't "need" new shirts i could "use" new shirts. i like my shirts a little big when i'm doing the plate, i like the extra air flow i feel i get when the shirt is loose so i usually size up. as these are loose fit, do i need to "size up"?

I just ordered my first cliff keen shirts in a very long time just last week. Hopefully they look good. Ive been using Honigs for the last almost 10 years and is the standard shirt worn in my association. But the calling of xmas gift certificates for a company that is not Honigs made me change my mind for at least one shirt.
Heres hoping.

Steve8527: I have purchased the cliff keen shirts sometime ago about 3years ago and all have held up very well and was advised to order a little larger size for when calling the plate that when on the bases. so XL (plate) L (bases) I think GD site recommends this but not sure I know that I checked a few sites that sell them and read it some where. Hope that this helps you.

I have a couple of the new material Cliff Keen shirts, and personnally I do not care for them. I purchased them when they first came out, and I do not like them, they are very thin and do not last. I have since been using Honig's and the Smitty shirts.

Those new Cliff Keens are like those bargain shirts at Official's Choice, except they're in stock and available for purchase.

well I just ordered my first CK shirt in a long long time from GD. Lets see how it is. Thankfully its a shirt I wont wear much since not many guys like to wear cream here in southern CA.

Yeh, it doesnt get worn down here to much either. I think I wore it maybe two or three times in a 20 game schedule a two years ago (when I last worked a full college schedule). More often not it was the MLB/polo blue shirts here in SoCal. And even more than that is black.

How common is navy down in those parts? I've been out of baseball a few years but from what I have seen this past season, black seems pretty popular up here.

Only in HS and lower. Southern Section during the semi's and finals you are required to wear navy. Nothing else or the unit could get fined. Above that its all black, MLB blue and cream.

Black is definitely taking over. Last year, they said that you could wear it in the regular season if you all match, but at playoff time, it's navy (although the LA City final crew wore gray). This year, they're even saying that you can wear cream, MLB polo blue, white or gray any time as long as you match. In fact, at the first meeting, the unit board members wore all the different colors to show what's allowed. (Nobody wore chocolate brown, however.)
And the heather is now second choice among slacks and charcoal will be mandatory in the playoffs and beyond.

I wonder if thats the same down here in Long Beach? Even when I worked with the Valley unit we could wear what ever we wanted as long as we all matched. But the standard was navy since thats what most people have.
I always prefered black. I think it just looks sharp. And I know for LA City they can wear what ever they want. Oh LA City has the absolute best rule for handling coaches. If the manager for a LA City school gets ejected from the game, the game is OVER. DONE. FINITO. Talk about a great rule.

All you say is, "Coach, not another word. Do we understand each other?"
And then he goes in the dugout and you don't hear from him anymore. It is a great rule.

I so wish southern section would do that. It was one of the pain in the butt things when I worked up in the valley. I some times had trouble remembering what schools were City and what schools were SS. This was made worse by not growing up in LA so I didnt have that for a basis and there are schools that are in the same city just a few miles apart where one is a city school and the other is southern section.

It's become part of the pre-game. ;)

What, does it go something like "ok, where are we and is this a city of SS game"?

It can even be a City team vs. a SS team.

If I remember it bases itself on who the home team is.
Oh back to the OP. I finally opened my cliff keen shirt I got from GD and I agree about the fabric. Also, at least to me, the color on the cream shirt is different than the one from Honigs which is the standard shirt here in Southern CA.
Thusly I plan to send it back for something else. Sadly I dont think they have the new CCA manual which I need since the one I have is evidently to years old.

The NY Association will allow the older CK material shirts, but the new "Dry-Fit" material can not be worn.
Now the approved shirts are Micro-mesh CK, Smitty's, and Anaconda has one that has been approved.
Navy is the preferred color, Light blue and red are "optional" summer colors.
