I want to make sure I am clear on this. The Situation B is very clear. batter out. Just want to make sure all other possabilities.

I am assuming (because the rule makes it a dead ball when it hits the batter) that it is a strike if it goes fair, is caught - it isn't an out (unless third strike) etc.

Reason I ask is I am at the dish an kids check swings, I see and hear it it his hands, I call time and catcher asked for check swing right away, partner says he went. I say batter out strike three, Coach is upset as was third strike - kid doesnt know the rule just keeps saying it hit me, My partner then yells foul ball. tells me it hit the bat. I let it go cause of the call of "foul ball" - luckily the other coach did as well.

The ball did not hit the bat at all, by the way.

I am not sure what "Situation B" is but, if a batter is attemtping to hit a pitch and the ball touches any part of his body it is immediately dead and it is a strike, not a foul. If the batter had 2 strikes he is out. The hands are part of the batter's body.

Yeah thats what I had as well.

Sit B describes the above scenerio almost to a "T" without the checkswing.

Thanks Just making sure I wasnt missing anything.

Richard, here is the FED Casebook for you and others that do not have access to the casebook.

7.3.4 SITUATION B: B1 is at bat with a three-ball, two-strike count. He swings at the next pitch and the ball hits his right fist and, without contacting the bat, goes into foul territory. F2 retrieves the ball and throws to F3 who is covering first base and tags B1 with the ball.
RULING: As soon as the ball hit the batter it became dead. B1 is declared out. To have the play ruled a foul ball, the ball would have to have hit the bat of B1 before it touched his hand.

So in the OP, the batter should have been declared out after TIME was called. the check swing should not have been entertained.
