We had a situation tonight that got me thinking: R2 and R3, 2 outs. BR hits a hard lined shot to the shortstop. The ball is kicked by R2's shoe on his way by to third before the ball reaches the shortstop. I call the ball dead immediately and call r2 out for being hit by a live ball. inning over.
My question. If the play had been a hit and run type of situation, where the runner had crossed home prior to r2 being hit and in turn being called out, would the run count?

Return the runner to his TOP base on the INT.

No the run would not count.
Btw, the runner is not out for hit by a "live ball." He is out for being toucched by a BATTED ball over fair territory. Runners are often hit with live balls and there is no violation, i.e. a thrown ball is a live ball.

In response to your answer Richard, why would the run not count? The situation is that R3 crosses the plate before R2 is struck by the batted ball with two outs. My question is what is the rational behind the response? Thank you.

By rule no runner may advance (Unless forced after all outs are made) when interference occurs. As R3 would be returned to TOP it would be impossible for him to score.

Thank you for the reason behind the run not scoring.
