This is not a joke with a punch line but rather a FUNNY experience I had while umping a summer league baseball game last year. The game was between two teams of 7-8 year old boys. As you can imagine the strike zone of course was reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeealy big but fair to each side. There was a little guy on the visiting team who was batting 9th in the lineup and his bat was bigger than he was.
For some reason he loved to swing until he got 2 strikes and then he froze up. As the game went on he ended up striking out in all 3 of his at bats and all 3 were on called strike 3's.
His next time up he stepped confidently to the plate, banged the plate hard with his bat and then got ready for the pitch. He wailed away at the first two pitches one of which was a strike one which was waaaaaaaaaaaay outside. The count then went to 3-2. Sure as the world the next pitch was right down the middle and I of course rung him up saying, "Strike 3/you're out batter".
He walked away discouraged and as his third base coach started to tell him something the little guy told him, "Sorry coach. I just can't hit off this umpire." :D :lol: :lol:
The coach bent over double laughing his head off as did all the parents on that side of the field. I went to get a drink of water but I could not keep from laughing myself.
The coach told me he had been helping coach for over 12 years and that was the funniest damn thing he had ever seen or heard. LOL.
