Hey guys, just had a phone call from a friend of mine and yours as well who asked that we please DO NOT put prices on this forum. Put your phone numbers or e-mail addresses and quote $$$ to the teams directly. This is an open forum and it is being read by everyone!!!

I second that motion. I am trying to keep things at least confined to PM's and the like.

For those of us who don't mind helping teams find an umpire for CDP or ASV, it IS BEST to just turn over contact info and let both parties negotiate on their own.

If a team tells me up front that they have "X" $ to put out for an umpire...I'll try to work with that...I'll go through our network and will let the umpire know where the team is...and let them go from there.

i AGREE WITH SCUZZ AND CARR THE PRICE THING NEEDS TO DISAPPEAR AND BE TALKED ABOUT BETWEEN THE UMPIRE AND THE TEAM.
NOBODY USE TO POST THEIR PRICES AND I FOR ONE AM NOT A BIG FAN OF DOING IT SO PLEASE KEEP THE TALK ABOUT MONEY BETWEEN THE TWO PARTIES CONCERNED.

i have to agree since i am guilty of putting on price

It is really no skin off my teeth, I think some of you guys that seem to be hardcore about CDP. As if it is some kind of turf war brewing. I came on this site last year and stated that a team offered to pay my airfare out there from CO. I wanted to get an idea of what was a reasonable fee to be out there for a week. I left without a straight answer (IMO).

You are right this site gets read by all kinds of people in baseball, not just umpires. Look at this way, I thought the CDP charges a team about $1,000.00 to $1,100.00 if they can not sponsor one themselves. I remember seeing that on their site last year. So that price is higher than the going rate so that they do not have to mess with it. If they do have to mess with it, then they are going to make some money for their time. However, if you were a coach and trying to find a team, you would definately not have to pay more than the true going rate. Whatever that rate is. I have a hard time thinking that I am paying more for a better umpire that would not even umpire the games my team played and my team gets stuck with some dad with borrowed gear.

Honestly, what does cover my expenses mean? If you are going out there, you are getting three hots and a cot. It sounds like a car is not needed. I do get the transportation costs to get out there and from what it seems is that it makes it profitable to actually go for a window of time. I don't begrudge anyone for doing that, but at the same time be reasonable. Some of these coaches are not baseball academy coaches and do not have the connections that others may have. I mean just in two weeks I have seen prices from $600 to $1,000.00. If I were a coach I would try to be as prudent as possible with the team's money just as I am sure you guys here would.

I personally think it is a crock to for each team to have to even go through this nonsense for the price it costs for each player and coach to even attend, but that is another subject.

True enough, but I was only asked to have guys not put prices on here as people were asking for compensation for time off work. This was not meant to be a place to go for a paid vacation. Negotiate as you will, but do it privately with the teams.

Why would it make any possible difference how good an umpire a team hires? Hobo or D1 guy, he's not working your games, or wearing your uniform. I'd find the some local guy, who enjoys the barracks lifestyle.

And CDP gets away with this nonsense because umpires allow it.

Guys,
remember that CDP pays it's in house umps< thats local umpires $50.00 PER GAME> dO THE MATH

Expenses equal flight costs, car rental to cooperstown and back to airport and any food during these flight times.

Now , the superior accomadations and meals are major league style

We have been doing very well with this request from our "friend". Thanks Scuzz for helping the "Newbies".

Again guys, and gals. No $$$$$ talk on here please. Negotiate in private with the teams.

Hi John,

I am looking for teams to hook up with for Weeks 10 thru 13. If you come across any teams looking for an umpire during those weeks, can you let me know or put them in touch with me (llumpjimward@yahoo.com)?

Thanks so much!

Yes your right but on this site they are asking you not too do that. Scuzzyfeller I believe has the right approach.
